Indira Gandhi’s statue unveiled in Hanoi

A statue of the late Indian President Indira Gandhi was erected in a park named after the well-known politician in Hanoi on October 9.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Ngo Thi Thanh Hang highlighted the long standing traditional friendship between Vietnam and India, which was founded and fostered by the late President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.

Mrs Hang said during her 15 years at the helm, PM Gandhi spared no effort to struggle for humankind’s peace and develop the relationship between Vietnam and India.

Meanwhile, Indian Minister of Home Affairs Shrivraj Patil said the erection of the statue manifests Vietnam-India solidarity, contributing to the development of cooperation between the two countries and the two capital cities. (VOV)
